Mutter (Peas) Pilau Rice Recipe

Mutter (peas) pilau rice is a delicious alternative to plain rice, and is so easy to prepare.
Serves 6 | Preparation Time: 35 minutes | Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients Required:
500g Basmati Rice
2 Medium Onions (sliced)
1/2 cup Olive Oil (or similar)
150-200g Garden Peas
2 teaspoons Salt
1 tablespoon Cloves
1 tablespoon Whole Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder/Paste
Method:
- Soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes to remove the starch.
- Add the oil to a large pan on medium/high heat, add the onions and fry until they are a dark brown.
- Add the drained rice, salt and spices to the pan and mix well.
- Add twice as much water as rice (pre-boiled or cold water) to the pan and stir into the rice. Bring to the boil, turn down to a low heat, cover with lid and cook for 10-15 minutes. Once rice has cooked, mix together well to spread the peas and spices evenly.
