Monthly Favourites | August 2017 | Shamsa

In this post, I share my monthly favourites for August 2017. Here are some of the things I have been loving in the month of August: Beautifully Scrumptious Body Butter from Poundland I purchased this body butter from Poundland ages ago, and it’s been sat on my shelf, unused and unloved. As I have mentioned many times, I have a problem with dry hands/eczema, which is made worse when I wash my hands (which is something I do regularly and…

Our Trip to Formby Beach

Our Trip to Formby Beach

We visited Formby beach in Merseyside yesterday. The weather was perfect and we had a lovely day; well worth a visit. Formby beach is owned by the National Trust, and there’s a wonderful woodland area to spot some squirrels but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to visit the woodland. We paid £6 to park the car, and it was a 2 minute walk to the beach My kids loved running up and down the sandy dunes The sand was…

B&M Haul August 2017

B&M Haul August 2017

In this post, I share a lovely B&M haul for August 2017. As we are coming towards the end of the Summer holidays, B&M currently have lots of their summer stock on sale. I picked up this gorgeous Bistro Barbeque grill on sale for £6.99. I was originally going to purchase it for £14.99 at the beginning of summer, but my husband convinced me against it. I’m glad he did because we haven’t exactly had many opportunities for a bbq…

Cleaning Oven With Baking Soda and Lemon | Does It Work?

Cleaning Oven With Baking Soda and Lemon | Does It Work?

In this post, I share how I cleaned my oven using baking soda and lemon juice. Stock up on Baking Soda A quick, cheap and effective method for cleaning the inside of a dirty oven is to use a homemade baking soda (or bicarbonate of soda) solution. Adding lemon juice or vinegar to the baking soda solution helps to clean the oven even further. To clean the inside of the oven, I prepared a thick paste consisting of baking soda…

C. L. Taylor Is One Of My New Favourite Authors

C. L. Taylor Is One Of My New Favourite Authors

Within the space of a month, I have managed to read all four of C. L. Taylor’s gripping psychological thrillers. I loved every single one of them. I first came across C. L. Taylor’s books in Asda. The cover of ‘The Escape’ caught my eye and having read the synopsis, I couldn’t wait to read it. I love how each one of her thrillers is so different to each other. Some authors’ books become predictable when the plot is pretty…

Our Trip to North Wales

Our Trip to North Wales

Last Friday we went to North Wales for a much needed weekend break. It was just what the doctor ordered, since the summer holidays have been pretty uneventful. I expected to go on numerous picnics in the park but it has rained almost daily since the kids broke up for the holidays. We were worried that the rain would ruin our North Wales break, but alhamdulillah (all praise to God) we found some sunshine! So we left Manchester on Friday…

Our Little Secret by Claudia Carroll | Book Review

Our Little Secret by Claudia Carroll | Book Review

“What If The Perfect Life Wasn’t Yours Anymore?” I have read almost all of Claudia Carroll’s books and I think she is a great author. I saw ‘Our Little Secret’ on the library shelves during my latest trip to the library, and was pleasantly surprised that this book was a suspense rather than her usual romance novels. So what is ‘Our Little Secret’ about? “Sarah Dee has the perfect life. A high-flying job in a law firm, a beautiful daughter…
