Monthly Favourites | August 2017 | Shamsa

In this post, I share my monthly favourites for August 2017.

Here are some of the things I have been loving in the month of August:

Beautifully Scrumptious Body Butter from Poundland

I purchased this body butter from Poundland ages ago, and it’s been sat on my shelf, unused and unloved. As I have mentioned many times, I have a problem with dry hands/eczema, which is made worse when I wash my hands (which is something I do regularly and not exactly something I can avoid).

I have tried a variety of creams and lotions for my hands, including Child’s Farm cream which had amazing reviews on Facebook but unfortunately didn’t work for me and made my hands feel itchier. I saw this cheap body butter sat on my shelf and thought why not give it a try?

I’m happy to say that it is keeping my hands nice and moisturised, and I lather loads on my hands whenever I wash them to keep them nourished – it only cost £1 for a huge tub so I don’t need to worry about wasting it.

I will let you know if it continues to work on my dry and itchy hands, but it’s definitely worth a try if you suffer with the same problem. I’m sure you could substitute it with another cocoa butter cream.

Books

  • C. L. Taylor’s Books

I wrote a mini review of C. L. Taylor’s psychological thrillers here, and they certainly kept me entertained this summer! My favourites are The Escape and The Lie. I can’t wait until her next novel is released.

  • The Second Sister by Claire Kendal

I purchased ‘The Book of You‘ by Claire Kendal from Poundland, a creepy thriller, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I knew I would enjoy this The Second Sister by the same author. Another great psychological thriller with an unexpected twist!

Shopping List Pad

I shared this shopping list pad in a recent Poundworld haul, and I have been making good use of it. A real time saver when I’m at the supermarket.

Lidl’s Deluxe Baklava

Chocolate covered baklava…who would’ve thought it?! The best baklava I have ever had, and it’s always out of stock at Lidl. I managed to get some this week and it was delightful. Not bad for £2.49.

Movies/TV shows

  • Jane The Virgin Season 3 on Netflix

I watched the whole season in four nights…love me some Jane The Virgin 🙂

But…Michael!

  • Marvel Defenders

I enjoyed watching Marvel ‘The Defenders’ with the kids, although it is a bit gruesome with the head chopping. There were some pretty cool fight scenes with all four of the heroes.

I’ve been enjoying lots of movies with the kids over the summer. Trolls is available on Sky Movies, and we really enjoyed watching it again after having seen it at the cinema.
